A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a lab report for a specific product batch. For CBD topicals, it is how brands show what was measured—cannabinoids and, often, safety screens—instead of asking you to take marketing copy on faith.
What a good COA usually includes
- Batch or lot ID that matches the product you bought
- Cannabinoid panel (CBD and related compounds)
- Testing lab name and date
- Sometimes heavy metals, pesticides, or residual solvent screens
How to use a COA when shopping
- Open the COA from the brand’s site (Terra Soothe’s current report is here).
- Confirm the product name and potency story match the jar (ours is 500 mg CBD per 30 mL).
- Skim cannabinoid results and any pass/fail safety sections.
- Prefer brands that keep the COA easy to find from the product page—not buried in a PDF maze.
